Vegan Spots: Hamburg
Today’s entry is for a very vegan friendly (plus friendly in general) hotel; Superbude! It was such a wonderful feeling to walk into this hotel after being in the van for several hours; the colorful, tiki themed decor and the friendly folks are the desk were an oasis of goodness.
After a quick orientation and walk around, the menu showed some wonderful vegan options, and the breakfast area has vegan soft serve ice cream available, 24/7. The hotel has an honors system; take a drink, snack or an ice cream, and pay at check out.
As we were there for two nights, we had dinner at the restaurant on the first night. I had the vegan Ahi Tuna Bowl. The ‘tuna’ was seasoned watermelon, with delicious shredded veggies. Healthy, filling, and wonderful. I don’t drink much at all, but that bowl combined with a local pilsner on tap was a treat!
Breakfast was outstanding; there’s a dedicated section for ‘vegan treats’; there were several savory delights (two types of couscous, and an especially delicious tofu scramble), and a perfectly presented oatmeal/ porridge. A wide selection of fresh and dried fruits are available, along with some exceptional bread and vegan spread.
